Governor Charlie Crist signed the following bills today, May 26, 2010:

Mold Licensing:
Law passed in 2007:
Senate Bill 2234, enacted June 27, 2007 as Chapter 468, Part XVI, Florida Statutes, provides for licensure and regulation of mold assessors and remediators. Chapter 468, Part XVI, Florida Statutes, becomes effective July 1, 2010, and provides that the mold related services licensing program will be administered by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Changes to Mold Assessor licensing pages 15 to 20
One of the most significant changes in the mold law that protects consumers is:
(1) A mold assessor shall maintain general liability and errors and omissions for both preliminary and post remediation mold assessment insurance coverage in an amount of at least $1 million.
Florida mold law is scheduled to be enforced begining July 2011
Qualified individuals will be issued a license in 2010
Once the new law is fully enforced (July 2011), it will take approximately 3 to 4 weeks to qualify as licensed home inspector and 3 to 4 years to qualify for licensed mold assessor or licensed mold remediator.
